Across the West, great businesses often begin with a simple idea and the determination to build something meaningful.

That was the case with Sturnella, a cybersecurity and risk advisory company focused on helping organizations navigate the growing challenges of cyber risk, regulatory disclosure, and operational resilience. The founder joined the JumpStart Evanston program with a strong concept and a clear vision—but like many early-stage ventures, the company needed a brand and digital presence that could communicate that vision clearly.

At Myrtus, we believe that when a company is preparing to present itself to investors, partners, and the community, the way the story is told matters just as much as the idea itself.

Our role was to help turn that concept into a brand people could immediately understand.

Building the Digital Foundation

The first step was creating a clear and professional online presence that reflected the credibility and focus of the business.

Working closely with the founder, we designed and launched the Sturnella website, which serves as the company’s digital home. The site needed to communicate complex cybersecurity services in a way that felt approachable and clear to business leaders who may not come from a technical background.

Through thoughtful design, structured messaging, and strong visual identity, the website positioned Sturnella as a company that operates at the intersection of cybersecurity, governance, and business risk.

Expanding the Voice with Substack

Alongside the website, we also helped establish a Substack publication to support Sturnella’s thought leadership.

For a cybersecurity company, credibility is built not only through services but also through insight and perspective. The Substack platform allows the founder to publish commentary and analysis on topics such as cybersecurity risk, national security exposure, and regulatory developments.

This approach helps position Sturnella not just as a service provider, but as a voice within a rapidly evolving field.

Why Branding Matters

In early-stage ventures, the difference between a good idea and a compelling opportunity often comes down to how clearly the vision is communicated.

The JumpStart Evanston program gives entrepreneurs the opportunity to present their businesses at a live pitching event, but only a limited number of founders are selected to take the stage.

For Sturnella, having a cohesive brand, website, and thought leadership platform helped demonstrate that the business was ready to engage with a broader audience.

The clarity of the company’s story—supported by its digital presence—played a role in helping secure a spot at the live pitching event.

Helping Western Entrepreneurs Tell Their Story

At Myrtus, this kind of work sits at the heart of what we do.

Many founders across the West are building innovative businesses, but translating their ideas into a brand that people immediately understand can be challenging. A thoughtful website, strong identity, and clear narrative can help bridge that gap.

By combining storytelling, design, and digital strategy, we help entrepreneurs present their ideas with confidence and credibility.

Because sometimes the difference between being heard and being overlooked is simply how the story is told.

Rooted in Evanston

Projects like Sturnella also highlight the growing energy within Evanston’s entrepreneurial community. Programs like JumpStart Evanston are helping local founders transform ideas into businesses, strengthening the region’s economic future.

We’re proud to support entrepreneurs who are building new ventures here in the West.
